Solicitors Meeting

After much thought, I decided that I needed some advice and assistance in arriving at the available options with regard to challenging the will. My wish was to get the will back to being more in line with my dad’s wishes, based on our discussion, and I believe, agreement with him. I also wanted to get the will back in line with my mum’s wishes, who had confirmed after my dad passed away that she intended to honour dads wishes in terms of the will. This was reiterated repeatedly by mum.

I telephoned a solicitors office that I had used before and spoke with a secretary or paralegal, who asked me to outline the matter to them to see the best approach. They felt it best that I book an appointment to see a solicitor in order to discuss further and to work out the next steps. I Emailed them the documents that they requested, including a brief overview, to allow them to familiarize themselves with the matter, prior to the meeting.

So I am off to the solicitors meeting. I had booked an initial meeting for an agreed fee of £180.00 to meet with a solicitor in Scunthorpe to discuss the matter. I arrived on time and was shown into a meeting room, with coffee provided and off we went. My questions were thought out and I had written them down, so I was good to go and ready to tell my tale and receive the wisdom that I was seeking, no, the wisdom that I had paid for. Sounds simple? not so much as it turns out.

At this point, I have to say that I have run my own business for 30 years or so. Whilst the business has had its ups and downs and been forced to adapt and change at times, the business has been successful and continues to be so, even through the period we have been dealing with the Covid 19 issues. As with my call to the police, it soon became apparent how irrelevant the actual issue was, or I was.
